An illustration I did for Joe Shuster’s would-be 100th birthday.
The Reign of the Superman was a pre-modern-day-conception-of-Superman Superman story that Siegel and Shuster did in 1933, 5 years before Action Comics #1 came out. It’s about a guy picked out of a depression-era breadline by something of a mad scientist, who administers an asteroid-based serum to the hobo. The guy obtains superhuman abilities but then proceeds to use them for purely material means, which doesn’t really work out too well for him.
